Jim Casey Youth Opportunities Initiative Revised Planning Grant Application

Janice Gruendel, PhD

Connecticut Voices for Children, in partnership with the CT Department of Children and Families (DCF), the Office for Workforce Competitiveness, the CT Department of Labor, and Casey Family Services Hartford, request consideration in this application for a Youth Opportunities Initiative Planning Grant. We will use the four- to six-month planning period to complete the environmental scan, develop a youth leadership and participation component, begin to identify policy and program “door openers,” identify a financial literacy curriculum, and work with two pilot communities – Hartford and Bridgeport – to develop an operational plan to implement the “opportunity passport” for 75 foster youth in year one between the ages of 14-23 associated with either the Hartford or Bridgeport regions. (December 2003)
