Preventive Care For Children in HUSKY A: 2006

Mary Alice Lee, Ph.D., Karen Sautter, M.P.H., and Amanda Learned, B.A.

This report on use of preventive care services among children in HUSKY A (Medicaid) found that preventive care utilization increased in 2006; however, about one-third of children did not receive well-child care and over half did not have preventive dental care. Fewer children went the entire year without any health services; however, nearly one in ten did not receive any care in 2006, despite being enrolled all year. Preventive care rates continue to fall short of professional recommendations and expectations for HUSKY Program and health plan performance. (November 2007)
