Where Really Does Connecticut Stand?

Shelley Geballe, J.D., M.P.H.

This report pulls together the most recent data on CT’s relative standing on tax burden, tax rates, state spending for a variety of programs and services, and other measures relevant to the current budget debates. It shows Connecticut to be a relatively frugal state, relative to its economic capacity, with ample room to increase tax rates modestly and remain below neighboring states. A double-sided fact sheet was also prepared to summarize this report. (11 pp.) (January 2003)
